Rocque More Media founder, Genie Lauren, attended the second annual EBONY Power 100 Gala at Jazz at Lincoln Center, where she was honored for her social media activism – which also landed her on Jet Magazine’s 40 Under 40 list, as well as being invited to join the panel on MSNBC’s MHP Show.
The EBONY Power 100 spotlights African Americans who personify “power” in all its manifestations—strength, focus, commitment and determination — those who innovate, elevate and shape the world in new and different ways. EBONY Power 100‘s 21 categories include “The Anointed,” “The Environmentalists,” “The Powerbrokers,” “The Thought Leaders” and “The Young Gifted & Black.” – EBONY
In July of 2013, Ms. Lauren sprung to action and created the successful Change.org campaign to have Zimmerman juror B37 dropped by her literary agency, Martin Literary Management, after the jury acquitted the killer of 17-year old Trayvon Martin. The petition garnered over a thousand signatures and even more tweets were directed towards juror B37’s literary agent, urging them to reconsider taking the juror on as a client.
Ms. Lauren attended the EBONY Power 100 Gala with her sister, Diamond, and shared her gratitude on her Twitter and Instagram accounts.
